Six images that inspire me from books...
1. This image is taken from my book 'makeup is art, professional techniques for creating original looks' viewed 12.10.15 (own image taken for book) page 207
This inspires me because the amount of detail with the stick on jewels, on the head, nails and face all implicate talent and care. The white face is very flawless and has inspired me to look into different white coloured make and paints to experiment with for my design for the Elizabethans project. The gems around the eyes make the her eyes look much bigger and also give a neat and fine line between the lid and the lashes. I admire the white makeup has stopped before the hair line to imply a mask. This also ties in well for a contemporary look insipred by 16th century makeup.
2. This image from makeup is art book, viewed 12.10.15, (own image taken form book),
This has inspired me because the makeup on this model is flawless and doesn't look like there s anything there. Her freckles show through and I admire them, they make the photo and model more individual and different from plain skin.
3.Photography book, viewed 12.10.15, (own image taken form book)This image inspire me because it is very different to anything I have found before, this artists ha experimented with different sweets and food to come up with a contemporary design of makeup. The face is white and the lips and eyes are red, this also reminds me of a contemporary design relating to Elizabethan stye makeup. Elizabeth was very extreme with her makeup practices and this is a modern day extremity.
4.This is an illustration from Vogue magazine 2014,
This has inspired me because I admire the 50's look, and this has taken a look from that era and designed it to be contemporary. The hat is something worn today and the makeup is copied from the 50's. It reminds me of Marilyn Monroe, who I also admire. The fact that she has her hand to her mouth implies a modern image, the images today have many women looking coy or shy and even childlike, although looking at the camera when they do so, this image is doing the same. She is saying 'i know you are looking at me, i am in control', but averting our eyes with her hand and giant jewels; this also imply wealth. I admire the colour choice in this illustration, green and red are complimentary colours and stand out and attract the eye, this matched with a black and white background really catches the attention of the viewer and would be a good advertisement.
5. I really admire this photo from makeup is art, 'conceptual, page 164 photographer: Zoe Barling, makeup: Sandra Cooke using MAC, hair: Natasha Myrdal using Bumble and Bumble, model: Alex C, viewed 12.10.15
This is a dark image but the red pigment of her hair stands out and is the main attention. Her skin is pale and flawless and her expression gives a certain sadness to the picture, she is looking worryingly off into the distance thinking of something only she knows. The shadows of the image impress me because the light areas really glow while the darker shades hide her skin and parts of her face. I admire the symbolism of fire her hair gives matching with the darkened red colour flowing upwards like flames.
Makeup is art, the 1960's Dollybird look, photographer: Catherine Harbour, makeup: Rachel Wood using benefit, hair: Marc Eastlake using bumble and bumble, Model: Viktoria @ oxygen, viewed 12.10.15
6. This is a look repeated many times in the fashion world, the big eyes, pale lips and short hair imply a look from the 60's period. I admire the different sheds of eye liner used to give the impression of big eyes, white on the lower eye line and black on the outer line, then big eye lashes to really open up the eye. I like this look, it reminds me of the look twiggy had, and inspires me to experiment with different eye shadow and eye liner to see what shapes I can create on the eyes. This image looks good in black and white, it goes with the old theme. Make-up is art book.
7. I admire the style of this image, it goes back to the look of the 50's this look inspires me and i would like to recreate it.
The 1950's look, makeup is art, photographer: Keith Clouston, makeup: Rachel Wood using Benefit, makeup assistant: Lauren Amps, hair: Fabio Vivian, Model: invlid @ mandpmodels, viewed 12.10.15
7. This image is glamorous, clean and fresh and has inspired me because the lips and eyes have been made up to look much bigger; the top lip is made larger with good lipstick techniques, I want to take this inspiration and use it in one of my final looks.
